Magic Lite's Spirit of Canada Fundraising Dinner a Great Success.

Magic Lite hosted our first fundraising dinner for Skipper Derek Hatfield of Spirit of Canada. The event was held to raise money for his upcoming bid to place Canada first in the Around Alone sailing endurance race. Over 80 people attended this dynamic evening as Derek told his story of being capsized while rounding Cape Horn in the last race. Undeterred, Derek sought refuge in South America where he rebuilt his damaged vessel and re-entered the race placing 3rd overall. Derek's dogged determination to "Never Give Up" is an inspiration to all of us in our endeavors as business leaders and human beings. Magic Lite is proud to be an official Silver Sponsor for Spirit of Canada. Derek is currently raising money to complete the new Open 60' racing boat for the 2006 Around the World Alone Race. Jozef Simcisko - Magic Lite's resident Lighting Designer

Jozef is now well ensconced in his new role as Project Manager at Magic Lite Ltd. What we didn't mention in our last newsletter is Jozef's formal education and training in lighting design and how this can be of benefit to our customers.

Jozef was formally educated in lighting technology and design (five years at the Slovak Technical University and two years at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bratislava, Slovakia). His masters degree thesis covered lighting for theatrical applications - the base point for lighting design. During this phase of his education, Jozef spent time studying at the Moscow Institute of Energy and the Royal National Theatre in London. He later taught at both the Slovak Technical University and the Academy of Fine Arts and has been a member of the State Exams Committee. Jozef continues to contribute to education in the lighting field by presenting technical lectures at the Slovak Technical University, the Academy of Fine Arts as well as several of the annual International Lighting Conferences. He has been involved in the lighting industry for two decades which includes lighting design for theatrical performances and managing his own consulting and distribution firm ILUMA. You can view some of his lighting projects on the ILUMA website, www.iluma.sk

Jozef's capabilities in lighting design are outstanding and his services are available to all Magic Lite customers. We believe that this service will provide our customers with added confidence in knowing that Magic Lite's products are applied properly to a given application. If a desired effect cannot be achieved with our own products, we will state so upfront and if required, provide lighting design services to assist you in achieving your desired effect.

Jozef looks forward to hearing from you. He can be reached at jozef@magiclite.com or by calling 905-825-9592, or 1 888 945-5483 if you are out of area.

New LED Light Cable Installation

The above image is of one of the latest installations of Magic Lite's Micro LED Light Cable.

Jakes Grill & Oyster House in Burlington, ON wanted to outline their facility in a cost effective way and our Micro LED Light Cable offered the perfect solution. It has an ultra low power consumption of 1.2 watts per foot and once installed is virtually maintenance free providing savings on both energy and maintenance costs. The building owner liked that feature!

Approximately 330 feet of the blue Micro LED Light Cable was installed on this project. Our outdoor rated PVC u channel track was used to follow the straight lines of the building. The track was mounted to the building and then the Light Cable simply snaps into the track. Two outdoor rated transformers and rectifiers were required for this job. The result is a spectacular looking outline that is both energy efficient and eye catching.

Micro LED Light Cable is made with ultra bright LED chips encased in a durable PVC flexible extrusion. LEDs are spaced 1" apart to produce an even line of brilliant light suitable for countless applications.

Low Profile Side Entry Downlight Fixture

Fiberstars introduces a high-output fiber optic accent-downlight requiring only 3" of recess clearance. With no heat, UV or electricity at the fixture, it is available in 25 and 60-degree versions for both t-bar grid and hard ceiling mounting. This new and exciting lighting system is currently being tested in a very prominent Victoria's Secret in New York. Fiberstars is also using this fixture in the new cloud systems, eliminating the large tail hump. Drawings of this new "cloud" are available by contacting Joe Richards at joe@magiclite.com.

3" Recess Depth-The LPSE requires only 3 inches of depth above the ceiling plane - 38% less space than other manufacturers' low-profile lights. And, the LPSE simply does not get hot. The LPSE allows fixtures in more locations than previously possible.

Illuminators-The LPSE uses fanless Fiberstars EFO* illuminators for their silent operation, easy maintenance and 10,000 lamp life. One illuminator drives four, six or eight LPSE fixtures with EFO fibers - replacing as much as 400 watts of conventional MR16's with only 68 watts - an 80% savings in energy!.

Jelly Lights

Jelly Lights by Fiberstars created a lot of stir this year at Light Fair. This unique eye catching design evokes a natural mystique. Completely safe in any environment Jelly Lights have all the qualities of any exotic chandelier but have all the properties of fiber optic technology at its best. With no heat, glass or electricity Jelly Lights are safe and provide an aesthetically pleasing way to illuminate a space. Worthy of the finer retail, hospitality and corporate environments, Jelly Lights can provide the unusual.

Specifications

Jelly Lights are available in 5, 6.5, 8 and 10-foot diameters and are made of flexible metal sheath around optical fibers; 3 feet stranded length. The hanging cable is included and the illuminator (ordered separately) is mounted over the Jelly Light in the ceiling.

Design recommendations suggest clustering the lights together. Do not synchronize the illuminators - random changes are naturally beautiful. Use 4 - colour wheels with 1 R.P.M. motors for more gradual colour changes.
