Spirit of Canada Update!
Spirit of Canada Unofficial Launch!

On September 9th, 2006, Spirit of Canada - the first Open 60 racing
boat was launched into Lake Ontario in Cobourg. We say "unofficial" as
there is no mast or keel installed on the boat yet. Spirit of Canada
was then floated to Port Credit Yacht Club where it will spend the
winter on dry dock while skipper
Derek Hatfield
and his team complete construction of this racing machine for official
launch next spring with keel, rigging and finally the mast.
In 2007, Derek will begin a number of Open 60 class races in
various parts of the world culminating with his entry in the Vendee
Globe in 2008 - a non stop, single handed round the world race. For
more information on Spirit of Canada and Magic Lite's involvement as a
silver sponsor, click on

Magic Lite launches our new LED Reflective Wall Light
Here is a useful and affordable
LED fixture
with dozens of every day uses. LED Reflective Wall light is sleek in
design and provides an impressive amount of light - indoors or
outdoors. Each fixture delivers a powerful
lighting package with only 2.5 watts of power consumption. They wire
directly to 120 volt and you can interconnect up to 250 units off of
one 15 amp circuit.
LED Reflective Wall Light is available in Satin Aluminum and White
finish with white, amber or blue LEDs. These units will be in stock
at Magic Lite for January, 2007 and come with a surprisingly
affordable price. For more information

New Concrete Pour "Cap" accessory coming soon for Xenon Step, Wall and Brick Light products
In recent months, several customers have suggested changes to our
Xenon Step,
Brick and
Wall lights
to make them more convenient for certain concrete pour applications -
and we have listened. Magic Lite will soon introduce concrete pour
"caps" that will mount to the inside of a typical concrete form and
attach to the can of our Xenon fixtures. This cap will come off with
the concrete form once the concrete has dried leaving a perfect reveal
in the concrete to accept the covers for the fixtures so they fit
flush with the concrete wall. Caps will be available in early 2007.
Magic Lite Attends UL LED conference
Underwriters Laboratories recently held a conference ( October 30 -
31 ) in Northbrook, IL to invite input from industry on the
development of new standards for LED products and Magic Lite was
there. UL plans to release a new Outline of Investigation (OOI) in
late January 2007 which will serve as a basis for the ultimate
development of a new standard for all LED lighting products.
There are many challenges facing safety approvals authorities such
as UL and CSA when it comes to
LED
products. LED packages come in many shapes and sizes as do the
power supplies or drivers that power them. Heat management continues
to be one of the biggest challenges for fixture manufactures. One of
the more interesting notes about the conference? - industry members
expressed a unanimous opinion that any new UL standards developed
around LEDs should be done bi-laterally with CSA in Canada so that we
have a bi-national standard. Cool eh?
