Xenon Family Display

As part of our ongoing efforts to build our distributor sales of our xenon family of products, we have designed a new Xenon Family Display unit. It is a wooden free-standing unit that comes complete with samples of all the xenon products mounted on it. The display unit stands approximately 5 feet tall and is a great hands on tool for promoting the xenon family of products. These displays are available to our distributors at no charge with any xenon stock order over $2,000. Please call your Magic Lite representative for complete details.

Spirit of Canada Update!

Spirit Of Canada Changes Course to Compete in Vendee Globe 2008.

Spirit Of Canada Ocean Challenges has officially announced that Derek Hatfield will skipper the new Open Spirit Of Canada in the Vendee Globe 2008. The Vendee Globe starting on November 9th, 2008 is the most extreme yacht race in the world-around the world, single-handed, non-stop and without assistance. It is considered to be the ultimate challenge for single-handed racers.

This marks a change of track for Hatfield and the Spirit of Canada Ocean Challenges team, whose initial goal was to compete in the VELUX 5 Oceans race this October.

“From the outset of the build, we have focused on two things- building the fastest boat of its kind ever made in North America, and winning. We are on course to achieve that, however, from a timing perspective, the boat and the team are simply not ready to compete in the VELUX 5 Oceans race” says Hatfield from the Cobourg build centre where final touches are being put on the boat.

With the focus now on November 2008, Spirit of Canada will participate in a number of single-handed and crewed races, both in North America and Europe, vying for the International Monohull Open Class Association (IMOCA) World Championship.

Magic Lite continues to support Derek Hatfield and his team in this exciting program and wishes him all the best as the build winds down and preparations for launch begin.

CASA Condominium Entrance
Fiber Optic Application

Contribution by Barry Burton of Burton Lighting Network

By using two different types of fiber optic lighting, we were able to provide the client with a solution for them to achieve a dramatic effective for the sign at the entrance of their building.

The small inner enclosed sign is illuminated using an EFO 1+1 illuminator and FSPT-50 end lit fiber. The fiber was installed at 3” spacing creating a flood of even light over the entire area.

The larger part of the sign is illuminated using an EFO 4+4 illuminator with 8 EFO multibeam fixtures. Four fixtures across the top and four across the bottom creating a scalloping effect.

Both illuminators are mounted on the roof in a ventilated weather proof enclosure.

Micro LED Used As Neon Alternative On Molson Breweries Building

At the junction of Hwy 401 & Hwy 427 near Pearson International Airport in Missisauga, Ontario sits the Molson Breweries Headquarters which is now a highly visible landmark with its definitive red “neon” outline. However, what appears to be red neon is actually Magic Lite’s Micro LED Strip (MLS).

Over 1000’ of MLS was used to outline the entire complex providing a clean line of light that makes the building stand out in a very aesthetically pleasing manner.

AT .72 watts per linear foot, red MLS consumes about 1/10th of the power of traditional neon. It runs on low voltage (24volts) and can be run in lengths of up to 150’. MLS is also the only CSA approved linear lighting product that can be field cut making installation simple for contractors. Lamp life for red MLS is 100,000 hours and at less than $6.00 per linear foot, MLS is an extremely cost effective product for building outline applications. For more information on MLS visit our website and click on LINEAR or LED products.
