Ottawa’s Rideau Canal Pedestrian Bridge.
A Micro LED Light Cable Application
Approximately one year ago, 330 feet of Magic Lite’s Micro LED Light Cable was installed on the Rideau Canal Pedestrian Bridge in Ottawa by Black
& McDonald. The Micro LED was placed inside a custom stainless
steel curb which snapped into a polycarbonate U-channel. The U-channel
was secured to the stainless steel bracket by outdoor rated silicon. In
addition, self-tapping stainless steel screws were installed every
meter to ensure the product was properly secured. Several outdoor rated
transformers were used to power the newly installed lighting. Once
complete, the project was very well received. Many people can enjoy the
pleasant atmosphere of the bridge lighting all year round. It is
particularly appreciated during the winter months when the Rideau canal
freezes and is open to skaters.

Product Celebration
On April 12, 2007, Burton Lighting Network Ltd. (BLN) held a Product
Celebration event at their new offices. The open house format made the
event easy to squeeze into customers busy schedules. The host, Barry
Burton welcomed customers during the afternoon and early evening hours.

BLN
is one of Magic Lite’s sales representatives for the Greater Toronto
Area so naturally Magic Lite participated in the event. Several
sections in the display area featured Magic Lite’s LED line of products. There were eye catching displays highlighting colour changing LED products such as the LED Pipe, LED Mini Tubes, LED Channel Flex and LED Panes. Another area displayed the popular LED Neon Flex and LED Channel Flex linear products and a selection of new LED products from Tokistar.

Amidst
the product displays and demonstrations, visitors were treated to a
wide selection of hors d’oeuvres. The event was a great success for all

Spirit Of Canada Passes Critical
Roll-Over Test and Prepares For Inaugural
Sail
By Derek Hatfield
The
last three months have been a blur of activity for the Spirit of Canada
team as they complete the Open 60 and prepare to go sailing for the
first time. Earlier this Spring Derek and his team installed the keel
and prepared the boat for its first critical IMOCA test, the 180
rollover. The boat passed (or should I say "rolled") with flying colors.
Since
February, a design team has been working tirelessly on designing and
engineering the mast and rigging package - a long and arduous process
but a very rewarding one. The attention to detail is mind boggling but
this attention is a must for these highly technical boats. It is
usually the smallest of details that means the difference between
success and failure in completing the Vendee Globe.
After almost two years of building and preparing the new Spirit of
Canada, the first sail will be almost as gratifying as finishing the
Around Alone in 2003. Most of the Open class skippers agree, reaching
the start line is the hardest part in completing a singlehanded race
around the world.
The
sails from France have arrived and the mast and rigging will be here in
the next few weeks. We will step the mast right away and we will start
our training and hospitality sailing within a few days. What a great
day that will be. Stay tuned.
