Xenon Task Light
The Xenon Task Light is Magic Lite’s most successful task lighting product. The XTL is the perfect solution for under cabinet task lighting. The 18 watt xenon lamps provide a better quality of light (RA=100, 2750°K) and burns cooler when compared to traditional halogen products. The images here show a recent residential installation in Belleville, Ontario. The home owner had several XTL installed under their kitchen cabinets to provide additional light on the countertops. The fixtures were simple to install and were easily daisy chained together and wired to one switch. As an added touch to their new kitchen space, the home owners also used the XTL’s as uplights. By installing several fixtures on top of the cabinets facing upwards, a warm glow of ambient light surrounds the room. All fixtures come complete with a high-low dimmer switch for added versatility or can be dimmed from a wall dimmer. The Xenon Task Light was the first of many xenon lighting products that Magic Lite has introduced over the past several years. For complete information on the XTL and all of our xenon family of products please visit our website Magic Lite is pleased to welcome two new members to our team.

The Vendee Globe Around The World Single Handed race officially got underway on November 9th 2008 and Derek Hatfield is now well underway and settling into his 3 month race. Having received badly needed additional funding from a French company, Algomouss, Spirit Of Canada is able to compete at a fair level. Derek had an excellent start – the second boat to cross the start line but had a major setback just days into the race. A major storm wreaked havoc on the fleet sending 9 of them back to the start line to affect repairs on their boats caused by the storm. Several boats were dismasted and knocked completely out of the race, however, Derek was able to make necessary repairs and get back underway. The rules of the Vendee Globe leave the startline open for 10 days allowing participants who have already started to return for repairs if need be and then get back into the race. Now, every sailor is on their own. Turn back now and you are finished. At time of writing Derek is well south of the equator and he is
looking forward to the exciting ride that awaits him in the Southern
Ocean. You can track him and read his daily reports at

Tokistar LED Products
Tokistar Lighting has formally introduced Trillium and TokiLum Systems into their product line.
Trillium uses Tri-Colour LEDs to produce a vibrant and perfectly blended colour from a single RGB light source. The compact profile is flexible which makes Trillium ideal for outlining complex shapes in tight spaces. The LED modules are tightly sealed and approved for use in wet location settings. Trillium operates efficiently at 8VDC. This lower voltage produces very little heat and adds to the system’s reliability. Trillium is cool to the touch and can be specified for applications where it may be subject to direct contact. The control systems are easy to program and operate.
TokiLum uses high output LEDs to provide an indirect wash of light on building facades, underneath step-nosings and from within very shallow ceiling coves. In exposed applications, the LEDs create distinct points of vibrant light. TokiLum LED modules are tightly sealed and approved for use in wet-location settings. The system operates efficiently at 6VDC producing very little heat. Complete details on both of these new Tokistar LED products are
available by visiting

and downloading the new brochures. IIDEX
IIDEX/NeoCon Canada, in partnership with the Illuminating Engineering
Society (IES), Toronto Section was held on September 25 and 26. Once
again, Magic Lite was a part of the special lighting portion of the
event titled Light Canada Expo and Conference.
