2010 is shaping up to be a great year. The recession officially declared over gives us all a renewed level of energy to tackle the challenge of building our businesses. Magic Lite is hitting the ground in full stride with the launch of our new extensive line up of MAGIC LED products. Be sure to check out this new catalogue on line if you haven’t already received your hard copy in the mail. Also new for 2010 is our new LED Mini Star. This powerful surface mount under cabinet fixture is sleek in design and powerful in light output. It utilizes the same basic LED module as our LED Task Light giving the same light output as an 18 watt xenon lamp with just 3 watts power consumption. Look for full details in the next 60 days.

We are very proud to announce that Magic Lite’s Project Manager Adrian Andronic has recently obtained his LC designation through the National Council on Qualifications for the Lighting Profession (NCQLP). This is a very demanding course and requires serious dedication. The LC credential demonstrates Adrian’s commitment to career development, professional practice and will make him an even more valuable asset to Magic Lite and our customers. Congratulations Adrian!

We look forward to sharing more positive news and great new products with you throughout 2010.

LED MiniDisc Light soon to be released in Stainless Steel.

Sales of our LED MiniDisc Light continue to soar as this versatile and effective fixture gains popularity across Canada. LED MiniDisc Light is commonly used as an in-ground fixture in applications ranging from public areas to private decks. For those extra harsh environments such as coastal installations or areas where salt is used to melt snow, Magic Lite will be introducing a stainless steel version in the very near future. This solid steel fixture will stand up to the elements without any corrosion and the price will delight you. Stay tuned for the imminent launch.

Did you know?

Our very popular Micro LED Light Cable (MLS) is the only CSA approved field cuttable product of its kind? MLS is available in a multitude of colours including two white colour temperatures 4000K and 7500K. The cooler 7500K is ideal for building outlines while the 4000K is ideal for cove applications in lower ambient light.

LED Reflective light is also available in multiple colours plus two shades of white. The cool white (7500K) is used more in commercial applications while the warmer (3800K) colour temperature is better suited for residential applications. LED Reflective Light is suitable for indoor and outdoor applications.

THE KEG Steakhouse & Bar, Regina, SK

THE KEG Steakhouse & Bar was looking for low maintenance products to illuminate both a wine cabinet and a liquor display case. Andre Bouvier of Electra Sales in Regina worked with Cheryl Watson, R.I.D., the Project Manager/Interior Design for THE KEG and together they selected LED products for both applications.

The LED Shelf Star was used in the wine cabinet. The elegantly thin fixture fit perfectly in the cabinet. It is light weight and low in power consumption yet delivers impressive lighting performance with a warm colour temperature of 3800K. Several sizes of the fixture were joined together to fit the cabinet, all powered by a single 60W power supply.

The liquor cabinet was illuminated with LED Britestrip. The 5 lamps per foot version was selected and installed with 120 Cool White 7000K, 0.72W lamps. The product was placed in the cabinet behind a valance so it is not visible to the public. The entire cabinet is powered by one 120W LED Driver.

Two very important characteristics of both the LED Shelf Star and LED Britestrip is that the LEDs produce little to no heat, and there are no UV concerns. The shelf life of the products on display will not be compromised by the cabinet lighting. This is a significant feature for any application that involves lighting sensitive items.

Metro Toronto Convention Centre - South Side Columns

The MTCC wanted to create an eyecatching and dramatic entrance to their south building. With the help of Steve Watson of Magic Lite they were able to achieve the desired look using Tokistar Trillium LED Modules.

There are 52 aluminum support columns located on the south side of the building and are divided into three column areas. The south entrance, top level wall and tri-level wall all have columns which vary in height from 8ft-10ft per column.

Each column is approximately 12” in diameter and has a centre mounted vertical strip of Trillium flexible cable with RGB colour change modules at 3” spacing. The product is recessed behind a 4” wide strip of sign white acrylic that is the full height of each column. All 52 columns are controlled by a central colour change controller located inside the building on the upper floor.

A total of 478 feet of Trillium was installed and are fed by 14 LED drivers and dimmerpaks. A controller was customized for a 3 way splitter to allow the signal wire to feed the 3 main areas of columns. All columns are synchronized to create a slow evolution of colour - creating a subtle visual night time attraction.
