| sYSTEM BASICS |
Magic Lite Ltd. was established in 1985 and has been involved in FIBER OPTICS and its development as a lighting product since 1988.
We work with
manufacturers of the finest raw products and systems from around the
world.
This combined with our expertise assures our customers of fiber
optic solutions that not only work but also make economic sense. |
Description
A
fiber optic lighting system consists of two, sometimes three
components. The first component is the illuminator or light source. The
second component is the fiber optic cable. An illuminator projects
light into side-emitting fiber optic cable, which looks like flexible
neon, or end-emitting fiber optic cable, which acts as point-source
lighting. The potential third component is fixtures for end-emitting
applications.
Illuminators
Magic
Lite offers illuminators using lamps as small as a 75 watt MR16 to as
powerful as a 250 watt HID metal halide. All illuminators are either
ITS, CSA or cUL. listed and have a variety of optional
features to create vibrant illumination in a variety of colours.
(See our Fiber Optic Brochure for complete details.)
Fiber Optic Cable
Magic
Lite offers coextruded PVC tubing and fibers to create flexible,
durable fiber optic cable. Side-emitting BritePak-III and SuperStars
fiber optic cable by Fiberstars come in several sizes. We recommend for
side-emitting applications that both ends of the fiber optic cable are
attached to an illuminator, either in a loop or "daisy-chained" between
illuminators.
End-emitting FiberSpots and Fire Rated fiber optic
cable are available in a number of intensities. One end of the fiber
optic cable is connected to an illuminator while the other end emits
light for point-lighting applications. (Please refer to the fiber optic
cable specifications for additional details.) We also offer a complete
range of individual fibers in sizes from .25mm to 3.0mm for decorative
and specialty lighting applications.
(See our Fiber Optic Brochure for complete details.)
 |
Side-Emitting Systems – Series
Fiber optic cable runs "daisy-chained" between illuminators which allows long continuous lengths. |
 |
Side-Emitting Systems – Looped
Fiber optic cable lengths start and terminate in the same illuminator. |
 |
End-Emitting Systems
Fiber optic cable from one illuminator illuminates multiple fixtures or points of light. |
Fixtures
Magic Lite Ltd.
offers a complete range of lampless fixtures for decorative
downlighting which produce no heat, ultraviolet radiation or fixture
noise. We also offer outdoor fixtures for use in landscape lighting
applications ranging from flexible gooseneck type fixtures for
hilighting plants to fixtures for recessing in pavement. Since there is
no re-lamping at each fixture, maintenance is greatly reduced.
(See our Fiber Optic Brochure for complete details.)
Application
Illuminators
are placed in accessible, ventilated areas. Side-emitting fiber optic
cable is mounted with straight tracks, clips, standoffs, silicone
caulk, tape, screws or a combination of these materials. End-emitting
fiber optic cable can be run from the illuminator to each fixture
either freely or in conduit. A hot knife is used in all fiber optic
cable installations for creating clean optical edges. Fixtures come
with their own individual mounting apparatus. Magic Lite will also
pre-harness your Fiber Optic harnesses and diamond polish them assuring
you maximum brightness.
